  VIGAN
Another UNESCO world heritage site; a place where time stood still. Vigan’s more than 180 ancestral houses of the 18th and 19th centuries was designed according to “La ley de los Indias”- a colonial town with narrow cobbled stone streets and rows of Hispanic tropical houses for shade, locally called “Mestizo District” or Kasanglayan (Chinese District) since the district was dominated by rich Chinese merchants in early days. Vigan is 408 kilometers from Manila, an 8 hour leisure drive along the well paved highway in the midst of rice, tobacco, corn, spring onion, sugar cane, garlic and myriad farms.

  CLARK/ANGELES
The former Fort Stotsenberg named after Col. John Miller Stotsenberg of the 1st Nebraska Volunteers Regiment, did not have an airfield until 1912 when the Philippine Air School was established; construction of the runway began in 1919 which eventually named Clarkfield in honor of Major Harold M.Clark. Fort Stotsenberg and Clarkfield co-existed for a while. It remains the home of American Cavalry including the 26th Cavalry Philippine Scouts. Shortly after the end of WW2, it was renamed Clark Air Force Base, the biggest American airdome west of Hawaii. Today, Clark is a bustling economic zone of multinational investors with modern facilities and international airport.
